In November 2004, the legality of the internet casino industry in the US was addressed by the world Trade Organization. A WTO panel ruled that American federal and state laws regarding online gambling broke the general agreement on trade and services (GATS).
Following the recent legal developments, the WTO appeal panel met again. They claim that the law discriminates between offshore online casinos and US based gambling operations. This distinction in the law is the cause for preventing internet casinos from protecting public morals and maintaining public order, as the law at least claims to be designed to accomplish.
